So you want to be Ski
Patroller?
Initial Requirements:
Applicants must be at least 18 years
old and an intermediate skier/snowboarder. There is a also a
time commitment.
This is what you have to do:
Attend the Skiing/Boarding Evaluation, by invitation, that
is held in late February or early March. This will be an all morning
event (most likely on
a Sunday) starting at 9:00 AM. You will meet with the Patrol
Director
and some of the trainers (both first aid and hill). They will answer
questions you may have and tell you more about what is involved in
becoming
a patroller. When they are done, you will go out skiing/boarding so you
can show your stuff. Here is a list of what the evaluators will be
looking for during
your skiing/boarding evaluation.

Boarding Evaluation:
Same
descent and general skiing skills as in the Skiing Evaluation except
for the Wedge turns and ascent skills.
Requirements for the first year of training:
- Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) training is 2
days a week in the
evenings.
- This training lasts for about 2 months (late
September - mid
November).
- On-the-hill training is 2 days a week (1
weekday evening and Sunday
day).
- This training starts around December 1st and last until mid-Feburary.
